Sammy's Answers to Your Questions
1. I don't need to brush my teeth because I'm in an International School not a Japanese school. We do have a rule about shoes: we have indoor shoes that we only wear indoors and outdoor shoes that we only wear for recess.
2. First of all, I don't have a house here in Japan, I have an apartment. I live on the 10th floor. Our apartment has a washing machine, but no dryer. Most Japanese people dry their clothes on the balcony on clothes lines. We don't have a dishwasher. Most Japanese people dry their dishes on dish racks. They want to save power (electricity). Electricity and gasoline are very expensive in Japan.
We have a tatami room which is a traditional room with grass and rice straw mats on the floor. My mom and dad use this room as a bedroom, but it is usually used for serving tea to guests. Now lots of Japanese families use the tatami room as an extra room for guests to sleep in.
We also don't have a car. We use our bikes and ride trains and even a monorail!
3. I play tag and soccer and sometimes basketball at recess.
4. I don't need to serve food to my class because, once again, my school is not exactly like a Japanese school. There is a huge rice cooker in the cafeteria and we can have rice every day if we want. There are chopsticks available and knives, forks, and spoons. There's also miso soup available every day.
5. We had to cancel Sports Day this year because it was raining. There would have been two teams: red and gray. We would have done a lot of relay races and obstacle courses.
